Essential Auction News
The national auction market in November 2024 displayed mixed results, influenced by scheduling shifts among major auctioneers and variations in sector performance. Auction House London played a key role in bolstering November volumes by holding an additional sale, which partially offset reduced contributions from other major players in the capital. Allsop Commercial’s decision to move its auction from October to November positively impacted commercial results, supporting a robust 39% increase in total raised for the sector. Despite these adjustments, overall November figures saw declines in lots offered (11.6%) and sold (13.4%), with total raised dipping by 5.7%, reflecting the challenges of a transitional period.
The regional landscape showcased significant diversity, with strong performances in areas such as London and the North-East, which saw double-digit increases in lots sold and total raised. London benefited from heightened activity, resulting in a 34.8% rise in funds raised. The North-East led growth in lots offered and sold, driving a remarkable 39.9% increase in total raised. Conversely, regions like Northern Ireland faced challenges, particularly in the commercial sector, where total raised declined sharply.
The final auctions for 2024 are now underway, and we eagerly anticipate how the year will conclude after the trends we have observed over the past months. As we look ahead to 2025, we are optimistic about continued growth and evolving opportunities in the auction arena.
Please note the newsletter can also be viewed online. Kind regards David Sandeman davids@eigroup.co.uk P.S. Here at the Essential Information Group we maintain a database of virtually every property coming up for sale at auction as well as over 1 million lots that have been to auction in the past. It is fully searchable and allows you to identify properties coming up for sale that you might be interested in, and to see what similar properties have sold for in the past.
